County Building Codes Enforcement


The Macon County Codes Enforcement Office is committed to ensure public safety and safety to property from fire and other hazards attributed to the built environment and to provide safety to fire fighters and emergency responders during emergency operations.  The enfocement of the adopted building codes, through our permitting and inspection processes, ensures that code compliant structures are maintained for the safety of Macon County citizens.

The department is also staff support for the Macon County Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals.  The department is responsible for the enforcement of the Macon County Zoning Code, the Macon County Subdivision Regulations, and is a central contact for land developement matters.

The Macon County Codes Office is responsible for the following areas
1. Issues all building permits for the county.
2. Enforces all building codes and performs all inspections on new construction.
3. Enforces the county subdivision regulations.
4. Enforces Macon County Zoning Ordinances.
5. Enforces the private acts for the county concerning property maintenance.
